Kowloon Canton Railway Clock Tower, Kowloon, Hong Kong

15 02 2008
KCR clock tower
The original Kowloon-Canton Railway was opened in 1911 as a rail link between Kowloon in Hong Kong, then a British crown colony, and the Chinese city of Canton (now Guangzhou). At Tsim Sha Tsui, on Kowloon, stand this impressive clock tower. A symbol of a bygone era. The clock tower is all that is left of the old station at Kowloon. In 1974, the station was relocated to Hung Hom. More Hong Kong pictures can be found on my site at www.picturesforwalls.com

The earliest record of a ferry between Hong Kong Island and the mainland dates back to 1888.  Anyone who has travelled on the Ferry today will know that not much seems to have changed in between!
