This photograph was taken in the middle of Central Park, in 2009. Apparently New Yorkers cleared acres and acres of swampland to put in this oasis of calm in the middle of one of the worlds busiest cities.
Venice is built on a series of piles driven into the lagoon. This shot was taken just off St Mark’s Square looking across the water.
Istanbul, Turkey – where East meets west. Over the years, this ancient city has been home to the Roman Empire and the Byzantine Empire. On the Eastern side of the Bosphorous is this train station. Looking at the destinations board it was possible to take a train from Istanbul to Baghdad!
