As time progressed, more and more of the island was consumed by building. Anyone who has been to New York will realise that this must have been early on in the development of the city as the area from the tip of Manhattan to Wall Street is tiny.

“NEW YORK” is the debut work of THE PHOTOGRAPH(ERS), the brand-new duo from Moscow, Russia. The song written by Vasiliy Butuzov in a memory of victims of 9/11 was inspired by the story of photojournalist Bill Biggart, who took his final shot of his life at 10:28:24 a.m. on September 11th, 2001, when the North Tower of the World Trade Centre collapsed upon him. Four days later, searchers found his body, his burnt-edged press cards, his three demolished cameras, six rolls of film, and one small undisturbed compact flash card carrying almost 150 digital images. Bill’s wife, Wendy Doremus, kindly provided the band with those photos for the video with acoustic version of the song. With the great help of the British-born photographer M A Andrew and New York City based Peter Foley (The New York Times, USA Today, Sports Illustrated, People, TIME, The Wall Street Journal, New York Post and others), who’s image from the coverage of 9/11 was included for Newsweek “Picture of Year”, the work was finally completed. With this video, the band wanted to pay tribute to the people who died on this tragic day and to the one of the world’s greatest cities.
